- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪I needed a new dentist in Halifax and was recommended to Public Gardens Dentistry by a friend. I found the service to be prompt and on-time. The reception area is small but the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. I was greeted promptly and was asked to fill in some basic forms. I was then guided by a dental assistant back to the rooms. Public Gardens dentistry has TV's in some of the rooms, but is very clean and professional. In terms of the actual treatment on my first visit, I was advised that I needed one filing. They were able to do the filling on the spot. The dentist was extremely respectful, relatively gentle and very understanding and accomodating of both my fear and any pain I might feel (I felt none). I was given the option, to come back and be sedated by another dentist, if I was too nervous. I wanted my cavity dealt with more. At the end of the procedure, I was advised that one tooth or another would have to be pulled eventually. I was told, if I had any pain, to call and book an appointment. I did have pain a few days later and called. I was promptly brought back in to have the tooth pulled. Again, the dentist was extremely professional and good at setting my expectations, for what was about to happen, during each stage. The dental assistant was also very calming. The one and only time the dentist's pliers slipped, she looked so assured, in what he was doing, I wasn't worried. Reflecting on this experience, this had to be a practiced skill. She was also very good at her job and making people calmer. If you want the flashiest dentist office, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a dentist who cares and knows his stuff, all these people seem to.
